Multiphase Renovations Offer New Amenities for Historic Club

Project Overview: Charted in 1883, the Capital City Club remains one of Atlanta’s most prestigious country clubs. To provide for the evolving needs of its membership, the Club underwent several expansions and renovations in recent history. A trusted partner, Hodges & Hicks completed multiple phases of renovations over the course of ten years, starting in 2013. Touching every aspect of the Club, each new phase adds new amenities for enjoyment while tying into the aesthetic of the existing building known for its intricate details and high-end finishes.
Highlights:
- Club remained fully operational throughout all phases of construction with clear separation between members and ongoing construction activities, prioritizing safety and minimizing disruptions.
- Phase construction plans accommodated special events and seasonal openings (like pool season) to accommodate members and ensure continuation of revenue streams.
- Seamless tie-in to existing facilities, reinforcing existing historical structures, providing continuity of desired aesthetics, and meeting building code requirements.
- Consistent oversight ensured that the quality of work put in place exceeded expectations.
- Proactive communication with board members, management, and members, including wayfinding signage, set clear expectations.
- Successful integration of new technology, HVAC, security features into a 100+ year old building.

Project Scope
Multiphase renovation over 10 years from 2013 – 2024.
- Phase 1: June 2013 – November 2013. Renovation of grill, dining, and patio areas with high-end finishes.
- Phase 2: August 2015 – June 2016. Demolition and construction of three (3) swimming pools, new fitness building and covered outdoor patio with fireplace and pool area.
- Phase 3: July 2022 – March 2024. Addition to historic building, remodel of locker rooms, fitness areas, primary kitchen, golf shop and vertical expansion with rooftop event space.
